With design categories for retail, leisure, workspace and – new for 2010 – the public sector, there are opportunities for you to enter your work whatever sector you’re in.
Projects
- Workspace Environment
An area maximising comfort and efficiency in the workspace such as reception areas, break-out zones, or departments, judged on the total concept and aptness
. - Museum or Exhibition Space
The ultimate display, education, and creative use of space for museums, galleries, temporary and permanent exhibitions.
- Bar or Restaurant
The interior design of bars or restaurants.
- Hotel
Complete hotel schemes: new-build, conversion, restoration and refurbishment projects. - Leisure or Entertainment
Venue
Leisure and entertainment projects, including spas, health clubs, gyms, salons and cinemas.
- Lighting Design
Completed schemes that make the best use of lighting in all contract applications including: office, retail, leisure, exhibition, public space and commercial settings.

Public Space
A space where people gather. This could be outside as well as inside, including atriums, grand reception areas, forum spaces, corporate canteens etc.

Retail Space
Design schemes in all forms of retail outlet, including shopping centres, retail concepts and stores.

Public Sector
Schemes for civic, transport, education or medical projects including schools, colleges, universities, health centres, and hospitals.

Eco Project or Product
This is a new category for those entrants who have demonstrated measureable sustainable and ecological considerations in their product or project.
Products
- Workspace Systems Furniture
This category is restricted to the multiconfiguration systems comprising tables, storage and filing facilities for use in office workspaces. - Surfaces
For flooring and wallcovering products, including decorative, creative and inventive practical designs. -
Lighting Product
Interior luminaires, lamps and exterior lighting products for use in workplace, retail, leisure, exhibition, public or commercial settings. -
2010 Product of The Year
All products can be entered and will be judged for the most deserving product in the eyes of the judging panel. -
Workplace Seating
Seating designed for use in office and work environments. -
Public, Leisure or Workspace Furniture
Furniture designed for public areas including hotel, leisure, occasional and break-out furniture, as applied to all contract applications, in both the public and private sectors.
Special awards
These four prestigious individual awards are nominated by you online and then compiled into a shortlist which is posted on the website. We invite you wherever you are in the world to cast your vote online for the most deserving designer or practice.
